«The Chains of Guitar's Cognition»
Contemporary schools, manuals for self-tuition remind a brochure «Rebuses, puzzles and mind-breakers», without the key included. Why should one speak of well-known truths? The answer seems to be: to let not only experienced but also young pedagogues know how to avoid ‘inventing the wheel once again’ and begin ‘moving it forward’ starting rather from the grounds, set by the old masters, than from the chaos of new influences that used to contradict obvious facts of development.
There can be no specifics of a musical instrument that would stagger the basic laws of performance. Time correlation, the physical sound’s grain, psychophysiological possibilities of learners - all this cannot be ignored in the process of education. The premises of any instrument’s cognition base on understanding the laws of development.
A learner’s creative growth depends on what «rational kernel» is sowed in his/her consciousness. The authors haven’t persuaded the aim to show encyclopedically all the diversity of forms and methods but just give rational directions - ‘the chains of cognition’ - for pedagogical work.
The authors express a great gratitude to the reviewers who have supported this work:
the honored artist of Ukraine, a lecturer of Specialized Musical High School named after N. V. Lysenko, - P. I. Polukhtin & a lecturer of Musical College named after
R. Glier - I. R. Reznik
A special gratefulnesses for the methodical help in the compilation of the opening entry and the paragraph N 20 «Integral figuration» to the modest and understanding, senior guitar master of National Musical Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Chaikovskiy - N. P. Mykhailenko; to the member of Ukrainian Painter’s Association, a participant of All-Ukrainian exhibitions in Poland, Canada, the USA, France and Philippines - V. A. Skubir who has provided the product with his works, helped with the cover’s design and accomplished the illustrations, the literature editor - A. D. Anisimoff; and all the other people who are partial to the progress of guitar art in Ukraine.

Reviews to "The Chains of Guitar's Cognition":
1994-2003 - collection «Minstrel» was created. It included more than a hundred of vocal and instrumental pieces from different periods of romance-song guitar accompaniment development.
Re-realized and adopted to the modern conditions of processing and arrangement, written for different ensemble combinations: guitar duets, guitar-voice, guitar-violin duets, etc. All this allows performers not only to save culture achievements of the past, understand the modern processes in music, but also to realize that the future is built on the best examples that have been created by thousands of dedicated intelligent people who cherish the traditions of their predecessors.

From the author
Glares of reflection — musical compositions that don't belong to such well-known genres as 'song' or 'romance'. They are a synthesis of poems, music and drama. Nadezhda Kurbatova's (2.02.1972 — 7.01.1999) poetry has reflected in the music and obtained its independent form. Harmony with Nadia's paintings and graphics is a unique accomplished composition brought in this album. Poets-thinkers have always been the 'mirrors' of their contemporaneity. Withing their creation one can feel all real happenings, pain, empathy and effort of forewarning in order to prevent the coming distresses.
Nadia Kurbatova - «Neither a twin, nor a mediator, nor a sculpture…», she is as real as we are, but with a sharpened perception, a heel of the versatile world with reflected pain for all occurring. A scream with clenched teeth, a bell dinging under water… And many-many other things unnoticed by common people or simply unwanted to be spoken, to be seen or heard… «Or just have substituted the faith for bellyful and peace. Who knows?».
Don't want to agree with the poetess' words: «I'll come back to town under the bright cross…». She has never gone anywhere and won't she - because is here, amidst us, following her way… In the songs and poems there will always be NADEZHDA (rus. "hope").
A long-term project expected to be have finished by March 2004

Reviews to the cycle "Times of Year":
V. Sirenko - the head conductor of National Symphonic Orchestra of Ukraine .
During more than thirty years of pedagogical activity, the improvement of teaching approach has never been stopped. Realizing all the responsibility for the opening stage of teaching as the basis, the foundation of prospective personality in particular and development and guitar art on the whole, - many methodical manuals at best are silent about the key problems, in worst give false uncertain ways that lead to deadlocks and unwillingness of the further development. Taking into account these and all the other facts, "Manual for self-tuition" for six-string guitar playing was conceived. It was planned to include five parts: the first part with the circulation fifty copies appeared in 2001 and has already passed the approbation. In 2003 it was reprinted, complemented and brought as a present to the libraries of Kiev Child Musical Schools.
Extract from the closing paragraph of "Manual for self-tuition", part I, page 105
…This is the first part of the planned work. Here one becomes acquainted with A moll key.
The second part - will acquaint you with E moll. Continuing mastering the harmony, we will naturally pass to melodizing by our own.
The third part "Polyphonic guitar" shows the specific oportunitis in all twenty four tonalities.
The fourth part - "Guitar in variation form - Russian and Ukrainian folk songs worked over by composers of different epochs"
The fifth is "Guitar - symphonic orchestra in a miniature". In this part of "Manual for self-tuition" we will become acquainted with large musical forms: Suite, Rondo, Sonata, Concert. In the musical appendix guitar clavier of symphonic cycle "Seasonss of year" will be printed.
On December 3, 2003 V. A. Manilov - passionate fancier of guitar, a good acquaintance of mine, the author of many musical editions devoted to guitar accompaniment - suddenly went away from the life. This work is dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Manilov.
